The art market or the emperor's new clothes

I confess, above all about the expected
objections of enlightened connoisseurs of this scene before
to come into contemporary art am
I'm an ignoramus, a parvenue, an underdog.

Whenever I go to a vernissage, always with a
fresh glass of sparkling wine in your hand and you're good to go
half dazed by its effect, so knowing
looking at it, this feeling overcomes me.
"I should free myself" told me a good friend
advised, "Get involved!"

She didn't tell me what I should get myself into
however insidious.
I will dare to try again
World of white canvases, blobs and
fading colors, as well as the stage shows
with blood and carnage to draw closer.
I'm going to an art auction, no, I want to too
become enlightened.

A white piece is up for auction
canvas and, oh wonder, with a red,
centered point.  A light shower covers
me, although the room temperature quite
is appropriate.

"Did you maybe put the part upside down?"
it shudders through me. Nonsense, with a square
a point in the middle you have almost no choice.

The starting bid: "150,000 euros", I'm getting sick,
but it goes on "160,000,170,000.....,"
at 230,000 a little calm returns.  "Who offers more"
calls the man in the gray suit?
Who offered what here, I ask myself,
there was only one or the other once
by the nose or the pen in the hand
elevated.  I get nervous, just don't make mistakes
and as a precaution I sit on my hands and
nod, blushing slightly, in a circle.  Immediately it sounds "240.000..",
I'm getting dizzy, should, could it possibly me...?
Hopeless I'm about to protest as it goes on
I lean back relieved.  At 250,000 euros
hits the hammer and a blond Hans in luck,
who sits next to me beams all over his face,
happy that he can give away his gold nuggets.

What was that?  I think of the Emperor and his
new clothes and see only one naked
Man basking in the certainty of something
very nice to wear.
