Sleep is fading

Sleep is fading
The time between dream and waking
I won't open my eyes

I hear birds sing
I feel the sun on my wings
The wind is caressing my body

Slowly I open my eyes
I blink in the bright day
I look over a green meadow

The wind plays with the grass
It sings in the leaves of trees
It calls for me

I open my black wings
The sun shimmer through them
A majestic sight

I jump and now I fly
Over meadows green
And forests wild

I play with the wind
And chase clouds
Laughing for the last time

The sun is gone
Shadows around me
Pain filling me

One last cry
I call for my brother
“Beware!”

Blackness is all that's left
From blackout to sleep
And now the sleep is fading
