In a Psychiatric Ward

In 2017, a handicapped man was killed at the psychiatric ward of University Hospital Kiel. He was secured to his bed and left on his own in an unguarded room. He was left in that circumstance for an unusual long time. Later he was found dead and the responsible department tried to hide the circumstances which led to his death. Later it became clear that he had a medical precondition that did not allow any violent treatment like a long-term restraint to his bed. Though there was a report to the local police nobody felt responsible to start investigations to find out what realy happened. The state attorney did not start major investigation but asked the HR unit of the psychiatric ward. A spokeswoman of the HR department claimed that this violent death never happened. On the other hand a nursing and care department for handicapped people which cared for the victim of the hospital incident claimed that the violent death of their client and all circumstances were fully known and discussed in their department. Meanwhile the regional government was informed about the death but still keeps their version of the crime which is close to the statement the spokeswoman of the psychiatric ward gave. Different media companies and the press refused to report about the criminal case nor started sufficient investigations. Among them are renowned companies like taz, der Spiegel, KN, Panorama, NDR and others. Different political parties are informed but refuse to start investigations. Among them are both parties that form the regional government, CDU and the Green Party. It's a shame what's going on in Schleswig-Holstein, the German county where the devastating Barschel Affair took place in 1987.
