THE STREETS OF LAREDO

THE STREETS
OF LAREDO
Du kannst dich nicht
mit Banknoten loskaufen
und kannst es nicht
verdrängen
durch Whiskey- Saufen
Mit Silber hättest du nicht
die geringste Chance
und Gold macht dich
nicht davon frei
Woher du kommst
und was du bist
ist vollkommen einerlei
Dein Leben ist Einsatz
und Jackpot zugleich
Du wirst hier nicht alt
und du wirst hier nicht reich
Den Verlierer
hat man hinausgetragen
dorthin wo schon
viele andere lagen
die nun zu Staub verfallen sind
der verweht im Präriewind
Auf das dürre Stückchen Land
hinter der Stadt
Cemetry genannt
Du bezahltest für die Chips
und verlangtest deine Karten
und der Spielhalter Hein
wird dich erwarten
mit seinem Peacemaker
in der Hand,
wenn er dich hat als Looser
erkannt
und wird dich
auf Laredos Straßen
kassieren
um dich unter dem Rasen
zu deponieren ...
The Streets of Laredo
sie führen zur Hölle
vom tombstone hinab
in die Verdammnis
ins teuflische Grab
dorthin wo auf dich
der Satan wartet
schon
dein kurzes Leben lang
bis
zu deinem schnellen
Abgang ...
Bist du noch jung
und bist du kaum schuldig
trotzdem wartet er
ungeduldig
und warst du
ein netter Cowboy gar ...
Es ist ihm gleich
wenn er dich holt
in sein Reich
… wie es
der junge Cowboy war
der auf den Straßen
Laredos starb
und seiner Mutter
dies hinterließ :
On the streets of Laredo
I died in a gunfight
at the wrong time
on the wrong place
with a big whole
in my face
My brain
on the street came
My blood
in the sand
in this bad country
in desert land
The street of Laredo
a Western Ballad
Here is the song :
I was a young cowboy
and I know I`ve done wrong
THE STREETS OF LAREDO
As I walked out in the streets of Laredo
As I walked out in Laredo one day
I saw a young cowboy, wrapped all in white linen
Wrapped in white linen, as cold as the clay
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong
I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy
These words he did say as I boldly walked by
Come sit down beside me and hear my sad story
Got shot in the breast and I know I must die
Go fetch me some water, a cool cup of water
To cool my parched lips, then the poor cowboy said
Before I returned, his spirit had left him
Had gone to his Maker, the cowboy was dead
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong
And I, I am the
RIDING DEATH
roaming the Streets
the streets of Laredo
and Reno , El Paso,
Durango , Taco , amarillo
and San Antonio
and so
My horse is a pale horse
and I am a pale rider
and I am a ghost
You cannot see me
only you get lost
I am the
Riding Death
in the old far West
I am very bussy
And I do my best
